Chapter

Theta Chi Fraternity was founded at Norwich University on April 10, 1856 by Arthur Chase & Frederick Norton Freeman. 111 years later, the Zeta Xi Chapter was chartered at the University of California - Davis on November 19, 1967. We moved into our house on Russell Boulevard in 1970, and the rest is history!

We are now enjoying our 51st year of existence, as well as the honor of being the longest continually-running Fraternity on campus. The chapter currently has 40 members with the most recent pledge class of 10. To date, the chapter has initiated 834 members.

Creating Resolute men

The experience of a collegiate Theta Chi is a unique education, as members strive to achieve competency across five different focuses: Leadership & Teamwork Development, Alma Mater & Academic Excellence, Social Competence & Development, Life After Graduation, and Theta Chi For Life & The Assisting Hand.

a legacy of excellence

Our undergraduate brothers can be found all over campus participating in activities such as student government, club sports, and peer advising. Many of our brothers work with their elected Employment Chairman to acquire jobs and internships that aid in professional development.

Our alumni can be found all over the world, working across a wide variety of economic sectors. Their connections to each other, the chapter, and UC Davis are the primary source of our legacy.

An Assisting Hand

Theta Chi’s philanthropic and volunteer efforts span many causes across local and global levels. Our annual Philanthropy, GI Theta Chi, raises money for the United Service Organizations. Last year, we were able to raise $6300 in addition to care package donations!
We believe in doing anything we can to extend an assisting hand — we believe it so much that we host and participate in philanthropy events every quarter. Together with sororities and other campus organizations, we have helped raise thousands of dollars for organizations such as Empower Yolo, California CASA, Read. Lead. Achieve, and the Alpha Phi Foundation.
